BIRD'S EYE VIEW
By TK Ray
The inspiration for Bird’s Eye View developed based on true events. The basis of the story follows one family’s dynamics through the highs and lows of life. As the author I wanted to bring in true emotions of what families really experience. By using my own family structure as the ‘bones’ of the story, I was ablet to build on that and expand on the framework of the unraveling story.
I’ve always been a writer. Observant in my nature, I am slow to speak and quick to watch. My writing style comes from my observant nature and ability to express emotions truly and thoroughly through my own lens of perception. As a writer, I tend to document current events, meaningful moments, moments of pain, dates, times, feelings. Due to this story being inspired by true events, the expression of emotion became raw and uncut as many of the emotions expressed in the book, were actually felt close to home. The story sat dormant in me for years as the pain was still rooted deep within to a place I had never gone. Finally, one day during a moving meditation it came to me.
“You need to write this story, the world needs this story and you need to be
the one to write it.” I shared my ideas with my mother and father and two close friends and the response was nothing short of supportive and excited. I wrote 2 chapters that evening and mapped out the plan for the next few chapters. I read the first chapter to my family and the response was one that I will never forget. I knew I had to keep going, I had to continue to breath life into the pain that once crippled me.
The bulk
of my writing for this book came at a time that I would say was my lowest. I
was in a toxic relationship and had no way out, this book gave me purpose. My
writing became my solitude on the hard days. Gave me a reason to escape mentally
to a better place. When I would complete a section or chapter that feeling of “complete”
and “wholeness” would wash over me and although it lacked in every other area
in my life, I knew I was birthing something that was necessary and essential to
not only my life but the lives of many future readers. I am proud of myself for
executing the idea of me book, for not giving up even though I was faced with
many opportunities to do so, and for being brave and bold to tell a tragic
story with a beautiful ending. From beginning
to end, this project fueled a creative energy within me that I can no longer ignore.
Bird’s Eye View was my writers debut and I cannot wait to give the world more
of my twisted mind! Stay tuned!
A Bird’s Eye View is a twisted tale of deception with acts of love overshadowed by the pains of a trouble teen. As traces of laughter and love are left amongst the whispers of chilling prayers, this once tight knit family faces a rollercoaster of emotions and a call to heal. This blindsided attack leaves the family devastated and takes this family on a journey none of them could prepare for.
